Opening Reception: Saturday, January 3rd from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m.
Damon Stuebner’s On Beaver Pond is a documentary photo exhibition about the beavers, and their pond habitat along the Outer Point Loop Trail. This exhibition features a slide show of photos taken, and sounds recorded, over the course of one year. Merging recorded audio with the still photos creates a more immersive experience and it is Damon’s hope his exhibit will educate viewers about the beavers’ ecological importance.
Ever since Damon Stuebner moved to Juneau, Outer Point has been one of his favorite places to photograph. When Damon learned that beavers moved into the pond along the Outer Point Loop Trail, he thought it would be good opportunity to build up his wildlife portfolio. However, once he started photographing the beavers, Damon quickly became fascinated by their ability to reshape the landscape for their own survival. This led him to start learning as much as he could about the beavers and their impact on the Outer Point landscape.
