/ BAUDOUIN DE JAER /

Arcas, conducted by Martijn Dendievel for Acts I and III and Diego Borrello for Act II; 2-CD set released in 2026 on the Sub Rosa label].
Since 1991, Baudouin de Jaer has presented sound exhibitions and created spaces for musical creativity open to everyone, with or without prior musical knowledge: Back to Normal, le Cirque des Sons, la Maison de la création — which later became CC de BXL Nord — and the Orchestres éclairs (or one-day orchestras), including several collaborations with Proquartet in Paris.
From 2004 onwards, he developed an interest in Korean salpuri dance and Korean musical instruments. In 2014, he composed a work for the National Orchestra of South Korea, which he conducted in Seoul at the Blue House in 2018.
Lion Dance (2014), commissioned by the Korean National Orchestra, was followed by a cycle of solo works for the Korean six-string bass zither played with a plectrum, the geomungo. These include the opera in the geomungo byeongchang style, La Danse étincelante de l’essaim de saumons [The Sparkling Dance of the School of Salmon] (2020), and Five Traces (2021).
In 2010, choreographer Kyung-a Ryu and Baudouin de Jaer jointly founded NOODIK productions, devoted to dance and visual arts creations, as well as contemporary music.
Agencer les sons [Arranging Sounds: A Treatise on Harmony and Musical Acoustics (2022)] was published by La Lettre volée.
Building on the momentum of his chamber opera, Baudouin de Jaer went on to present X EXPENDER (2022), featuring mezzo-soprano Marie Juliette Ghazarian, followed by X64 (2026), featuring Jean-Louis Marchand on drums and words by Baudouin de Jaer.
Baudouin de Jaer has toured with Ted Milton [BLURT] and William Sheller, and has performed in three concerts with ARNO as part of Fanfare.
