Pour la 30e fois, le Béjart Ballet Lausanne retrouvera la scène du Cirque Royal de Bruxelles – un rendez-vous artistique fort dans une salle chargée d’histoire.

Du 7 au 10 mai 2026, la compagnie proposera un programme intense, sensible et résolument ancré dans notre époque. Deux œuvres puissantes, entre introspection contemporaine et célébration des racines, se partageront la scène.

En ouverture, “Bye bye baby blackbird“, du chorégraphe néerlandais Joost Vrouenraets, artiste invité de la compagnie, explore frontalement la question de la perte, inspirée par la voix singulière de Johnny Cash.

Avec une danse intense et sans détour, cette création plonge dans les émotions brutes liées à l’absence, à travers une narration non linéaire et une tension constante entre lumière et obscurité.

En seconde partie, “Dionysos (Suite)“, ballet mythique créé par Maurice Béjart en 1984, nous entraîne dans une célébration du corps et de ses métamorphoses.

Pensée comme une évocation de Dionysos, dieu du théâtre, de l’ivresse et du chaos créatif, cette suite puise dans des rythmes percussifs, une énergie tribale et une tension dramatique. Une fresque envoûtante, à la croisée du sacré et du sauvage. Un voyage viscéral au cœur des pulsions humaines, porté par la puissance collective de la compagnie.

Ces ballets sont un dialogue entre création contemporaine et héritage chorégraphique, porté par la puissance du collectif, et fidèle à la vision de Julien Favreau, directeur artistique du BBL, qui souhaite mettre en lumière l’héritage de Maurice Béjart tout en ouvrant la scène à des créations contemporaines actuelles et fortes.

For the 30th time, Béjart Ballet Lausanne will return to the stage of Brussels' Cirque Royal — a landmark artistic rendezvous in a venue steeped in history.

From May 7 to 10, 2026, the company will present a powerful and emotionally resonant program, deeply rooted in our times. Two compelling works, balancing contemporary introspection and a celebration of choreographic heritage, will share the stage.

Opening the evening, “Bye bye baby blackbird“ by Dutch choreographer Joost Vrouenraets, guest artist with the company, directly addresses the theme of impending loss, drawing inspiration from the raw and haunting voice of Johnny Cash.

With intense, uncompromising movement, this creation dives into the raw emotions of absence, through a non-linear narrative and a constant tension between light and shadow.

In the second part, “Dionysos (Suite)“ — a legendary ballet created by Maurice Béjart in 1984 — leads us into a celebration of the body and its metamorphoses.

Conceived as an evocation of Dionysos, God of theatre, ecstasy and creative chaos, this piece draws on percussive rhythms, tribal energy and dramatic tension. A captivating fresco at the crossroads of the sacred and the wild. A visceral journey into the heart of human instinct, carried by the collective power of the company.

These ballets represent a dialogue between contemporary creation and choreographic heritage, carried by the strength of the collective and true to the vision of Julien Favreau, Artistic Director of the BBL, who aims to highlight Maurice Béjart’s legacy while opening the stage to bold and relevant contemporary works.
