Off Leash K9 is hosting a pack walk around Maritime Park on August 30th. Please meet in the field next to Nick's Boathouse at 8AM. ☕️
Please read the rules below, they are important and anyone that does not follow them, may be asked to leave. Dog and handler safety is priority.
1. Dogs must remain ON LEASH during the entire pack walk, no exceptions.
2. Nose-to-nose greetings between dogs is NOT permitted. It is important to respect each other's space, including the dogs space. We don't know what behaviors the handlers may be working on with their dog, everyone has different goals. Some dogs are nervous, fearful, low confidence, overly excitable, too friendly and working on neutrality... you don't know what they are working on so please, respect each other's space and implement proper boundary setting with your dog.
4. Any dog that lunges or barks at other dogs/people is not permitted without trainer approval (even if it is motivated by "friendliness or excitement"). Pack walks are considered an advanced training environment, and reactive dogs/their handlers must have a solid training foundation before participating. We have put a lot of work into helping these handlers/dogs modify behavior and we do not want to put dogs into an environment they are not ready for and risk ruining any training we have worked hard to establish. If a reactive dog shows up without trainer approval and cannot safely walk with the pack, the handler will be asked to leave and may only return after their dog is better equipped to handle the stressors.
There will only be 2-3 trainers available to help, we are there for support, but we will likely be outnumbered by our four-legged friends, we need the owners to be completely in control of their dog.
Our priority is setting dogs up for success and making this beneficial for everyone that attends!
