The Handmade Music School presents an OLD TIME FIDDLE WORKSHOP - with Scott AinslieSaturday, January 24, 2026
3PM in the community room at The Floyd Country Store
Cost is $30 per person
Workshop will be approximately 90 minutes in length.
This workshop is for intermediate and advanced
In this workshop, Scott Ainslie will explore “Cross Rhythms in Old Time Bowing.” We'll explore syncopated bowing patterns and rhythmic variations in old time fiddling and then work on incorporating them in a common tune. Bring your fiddles and a sound recording device if you like.
ABOUT SCOTT AINSLIE:
Steeped in traditional music, Scott Ainslie is a renowned acoustic blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, banjo player and fiddler. He learned southern old-time ballads, banjo and fiddle from elderly musicians in North Carolina and West Virginia and blues from his black elders in North Carolina, Virginia, South Carolina, Georgia and Mississippi.
