In 1903, a tragic and highly controversial case changed the building forever.
Six-year-old Alfonso “Fonny” Buck was murdered, and Walter Jackson was convicted—though many believed him innocent. Before he could be executed, a masked mob of 150 stormed the jail, dragged him out, and lynched him from a lamppost outside.
Today, it’s believed Jackson’s tormented spirit remains, searching for justice. Visitors have heard chains dragging, felt intense dread, and experienced electrical disturbances—especially in the basement gallows where he awaited his fate.

💀 The Basement Gallows – Intense feelings of despair, cold spots, shadow figures, and disembodied voices. Many guests feel physically sick in this area.
