Celebrate America's 250th birthday with two musical performances, in addition to the games you all know and love! The annual Old-Fashioned 4th of July and Veteran's Barbecue is on Saturday, July 4 from 12-4 pm. Bring a pie for the silent pie auction, top pie receives an award, proceeds support future 4th of July events. To celebrate the semiquincentennial in 2026, we are adding two 45 minute concerts to the event in partnership with the Thornapple Arts Council, and supported by funding from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council. Both concerts will feature folk music that is historic, or reminiscent of, Revolution era tunes. During lunch, Michigan-based Ben Traverse will provide listeners with an overview of old time music. After the games, Chris Vallillo returns to HCP for the first time since 2018 to perform The Power of Song in Democracy on the steps of Mainstreet under the spreading oak. Event admission is FREE.
HCP does not provide fireworks in the evening.
