PROJECT OVERVIEW: Old 4th Ward Unity Day 2026
Host: We are Old 4th Ward the New Generation inc.

Theme: Roots of the Past, Pride of the Future
Our History: The Foundation of Annapolis
The Old 4th Ward was once the beating heart of Black excellence in Annapolis. It was a community of homeowners and a hub for 33 Black-owned businesses. Our roots run deep, with families like mine residing here since the early 1800s.
However, the era of "urban renewal"—which many of us remember as "urban removal"—stripped away generational wealth and displaced families. We went from a community of ownership to being labeled "underserved." But the Old 4th Ward is still here, and our legacy is ready to be reclaimed.
The Vision: The Unity Day Parade
On June 27, 2026, we will march to remember and rise.
The Route: We will parade from the site of Adams Park School—one of the first Black schools in the city—to The People’s Park (located at Clay and Calvert St).
The Significance: Walking this path connects our educational history to the ground where our businesses once thrived. It is a physical journey from our history to our new generation.
The Mission: Why We Need You
Our goal is to boost community morale and provide a visual representation of what determination and dedication look like.
Inspiring the Youth: Seeking the Morgan State or Howard University bands and Greek organizations, also motivational inspirational educational speakers shows our children that they are the "New Generation" of doctors, lawyers, and leaders.
Intergenerational Healing: This event is for all ages, bridging the gap between the elders who remember our business district and the youth who will build the next one.
Unity & Peace: We are grooming and empowering our youth to protect, nurture, and grow the Old 4th Ward for generations to come.
