Oktoberfest with Live Polka Music at East Bank Regional Library

The East Bank Regional Library will host a mini-Oktoberfest starting at 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 8. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Carol Schlueter, director of the German-American Cultural Center and Museum in Gretna, will discuss the museum and its role in local history at 6 p.m. She is from a family of German immigrants. Her Schlueter relatives came to Texas in 1846 from Hanover, Germany, and settled in Fredericksburg, Texas, near San Antonio. She grew up in the Houston area and came to New Orleans in 1980.
Ira’s German Polka Band will perform polka standards at 7 p.m. and dancing is encouraged.
