Blending exquisite hand-drawn animation with searing first-person testimony, Among Neighbors uncovers the haunting story of a Polish town where centuries of coexistence with its Jewish community collapsed in the shadow of World War II. At its center are two remarkable voices: the town’s last living Holocaust survivor and an elderly eyewitness who recalls a shocking massacre—not under Nazi occupation, but months after its defeat. This award-winning and controversial film unearths the deepest mysteries of the town, revealing both the love and hatred that local poles felt for their Jewish neighbors.
And as has been reported by the San Francisco Chronicle, J Weekly Jewish News of Northern California, The Hollywood Reporter, Times of Israel, and many news outlets in Poland, the office of Poland’s president is attempting to ban Among Neighbors in an attempt to erase and rewrite history.
