One of the highlights of our Annual Picnic is the All Okinawa-style Bon Odori*, which exclusively features Okinawan songs and dances.
NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! ALL AGES WELCOME! The tii wudui (hand dance) choreographies are simple and repetitive (they can even be done sitting down). Join our June Nuchaashii Gathering to learn the movements ahead of time so you can have more fun at the OAA Picnic!
* NOTE: Bon Dancing is not done in Okinawa. Different regions and islands have unique traditions including but not limited to Angama in Yaima (Yaeyama), Eisaa/Yeisaa in central Uchinaa (Okinawa), and the Miyaguni Tug-of-War in Myaaku (Miyako).
