FREE, no registration required. In partnership with the America 250 Campaign and Ohio Goes to the Movies, we are excited to be offering the Wizard of Oz on the big screen at Caesar Ford Park!
Born in Xenia, Ohio in 1869, Chalres Grapewin portrayed Uncle Henry in the farm scenes of the Wizard of Oz. Grapewin ran away from home to be a circus acrobat which led him to work as an aerialist and trapeze artist in a traveling circus before turning to acting. He traveled all over the world with the famous P. T. Barnum circus. Grapewin also appeared in the original 1903 Broadway production of The Wizard of Oz, 36 years before he would be featured in the famous Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer film version.
The evening will kick off with a trip down the yellow brick road followed by the classic movie. Popcorn (FREE) and refreshments ($$) will be served. Guests are permitted to bring along snacks and non-alcoholic drinks to enjoy. Guests are encouraged to dress as their favorite Wizard of Oz characters.
The movie will be hosted in the amphitheater with seating for over 1,000.
More details to follow as information becomes available.
