About Stitches by Hugo

Stitches by Hugo is a nonprofit initiative founded by Hugo Herrera, a Colombian immigrant based in New York City. Since 2015, Herrera has offered free eight-week sewing workshops, teaching students to design and create their own clothing. His mission is to empower others through sewing skills, enabling them to live and work with dignity. Despite limited resources, Herrera has established a sewing space equipped with 22 machines, funded through donations and personal effort. He aspires to expand the program to accommodate more students and continue his legacy of community empowerment.
