Learn easy techniques to get out of tricky situations
The Fairfield County Sheriff (https://www.facebook.com/FCSO23) provides important safety training to organizations across the region, and they've accepted our invitation to bring their Self-Defense Training to FairDems!
"Our self-defense class is designed to teach individuals techniques and strategies to protect themselves in dangerous situations. It focuses on building confidence, awareness, and practical skills to defend against various types of physical threats. The class will cover simple techniques, including wrist grab defense, striking, blocking, chokeholds, and reactionary gap control. The goal is to empower women to stay safe, react quickly, and gain confidence to defend themselves when needed. Your mind is your greatest weapon!"
The first goal of the deputies' training is to teach ways you can get out of a situation that bothers you--that is, learn ways that you can avoid freezing in the face of a threat and instead practice how to get away from it. No need for gym clothes, and we promise you won't end up with bruises!
