offcuts: artist book workshop ✂️
About this Event
Offcuts is an artists’ book workshop that explores kinship with gathered materials, and considers how patchworked systems can become a form of language. Flax waste, fabric scraps, bread clips, handwritten secrets, and other “offcut” ephemera form the pages of the book. ˙⋆✮⋆˚࿔
Looking at the lifeworlds of objects and personal collections, participants will be guided in creating their own book with found and unconventional materials.
Participants will be provided with some materials and sewing kits, but are encouraged to bring their own "offcuts" to use!
Please note: Tickets are free, but donations are appreciated.
This workshop is located at FLEET: UBC, situated in The Fabric of Campus Fibre Garden at UBC’s Point Grey (Vancouver) Campus. (Close to the smaller bus loop, by the #14!) Any questions can be sent to [email protected].
The residency building has a short set of steps, air conditioning and provisional seating. If there are any physical accessibility needs you would like to discuss, please forward inquiries to [email protected].
