Join us at SULLALUNA for a special evening celebrating Off the Wall: Making Stuff Together, the new collaboration by Caldecott Honorees and best friends Juana Martinez-Neal and Molly Idle, published by Neal Porter Books / Holiday House.
Off the Wall is a joyful celebration of friendship, creativity, play, and the magic that happens when we experiment, make a mess, and welcome the unexpected.
During the event, Juana and Molly will share the story behind the making of the book and talk about how they collaborated to bring this playful project to life. They’ll be joined in conversation by Isabel Roxas.
The conversation will be followed by an interactive collaborative art project, inspired by the spirit of the book and designed especially to bring out the child in all of us — including the adults!

Molly Idle + Juana Martinez-Neal have a lot in common. They are both Caldecott Honorees. They both live in houses packed full of art, family, and animals. Both of them had parents who made things with their hands, and both of them wanted to be artists when they grew up.
There are also a lot of things that make Molly and Juana different. One dislikes drawing horses; the other likes drawing unicorns. One made a book about a girl named Alma; the other made a book about a girl named Flora. One was born in Peru, and the other was born in the U.S.; now one lives in the woods and the other lives in the desert. But more important than their similarities— and maybe because of their differences— Molly and Juana are best friends.
