Off the Wall is a curated tour series that explores special topics across SAMA’s collections. Each session is developed and facilitated by passionate docents who can’t wait to share the stories behind SAMA’s most captivating artworks and hidden gems. Blue pigments through the ages have been elusive, highly desired, invented, forgotten, and rediscovered. Blue has been associated with human sacrifice, valued greater than gold, and used exclusively to depict royalty and the Virgin Mary. And then there's the connection between a certain blue pigment, an elixir of immortality, and the Frankenstein castle. Come get the full story from SAMA Docent Michelle Baka.
