Off the Page: a Night of Queer Comix Readings

Chicago is a city of queers and a city of cartoonists. The two collide at a love-bug filled performance—OFF THE PAGE! Five cartoonists will perform their comics about love of all kinds—interpreting their art through live readings with a variety of performance styles.
Readers include:

Doors at 6pm and performances begin at 7pm. Dorothy remains open after the event until 11pm.

Tickets are $12 in advance and $17 at the door.

Dorothy is 21+ and requires physical or mobile ID for entry. Dorothy is also ADA accessible with elevator access on Campbell Ave. If you are a guest who requires elevator access, please wait by the black door with our logo in the window on Campbell Ave and call our staff to assist: 773-770-3799

ABOUT THE COMICS

Readers:

Mac McGuire is a queer Chicago-based muralist, and comic artist inspired by life experiences, the natural world, and the occasional strange dream. Her comic work strives for honesty and borders on oversharing in the efforts to create understanding and community among her audience.

Onlinevalentine, AKA Mel (They/Them), is a Lesbian Cuban-American comic artist based in Chicago. They are the creator of Between Her Teeth- An 18+ supernatural lesbian romance webcomic. They like the color green, playing DND, matcha, knitting, and eating gyoza.

Leo Covault is a printmaker and zinester exploring gender through the lens of history and folklore. He creates risograph zines and paper doll and three dimensional set comics. His comic The Harpist, a transgender fairy tale told in paper dolls, debuted in 2024. Future projects include a comic titled The Transformations of Tam Lin, coming 2026.

J.E Paeth is a Chicago-Based Illustrator and Cartoonist. Paeth’s work often centers on themes of transsexuality, queerness, transformation, and angels. Paeth seeks to critically highlight how religion and queerness often intersect and explore the various ways community and interpersonal relationships can balance against faith. Frankie Lyne is a trashy queer comics artist and singer who believes cheetah print is a true neutral. Their work includes the Simon Stories (Simon and Marie, Mimi, Vive la Vie etc.), Starr Ramone, and the occasional auto-bio piece featuring their favorite ghost friends. They will one day release 'As I Know It' and 'MoonStride,' but you didn't hear that from me.

Jaime Dear came from Ohio. They distribute comics & zines with their friends at Strange Deer Press. Most of their stuff can be read for free at potatofuzz.itch.io.

Teddie Bernard is a queer cartoonist, zinester, and printmaker. They spend their time refurbishing obsolete printers and researching obscure lesbians.
