ORIGINS & CREATIVE VISION
Unfolding their story on the outskirts of Charlotte, North Carolina, in a hideaway studio surrounded by towering trees and whispering woods, Of Good Nature finds solace and inspiration in their secluded creative space. Here, amidst the calm of nature, they craft vibrant, soul-affirming music designed to bring joy to listeners—and created with joy at its core.
Free to pursue their vision without compromise, the result is a fusion-rich tapestry of grooves and lyrics that blend alternative, soul, folk, world, and rock into an irresistible whole. Their music is marked by soulful vocals, technical drumming, and brass harmonies that soar, resulting in a sound that’s both grounded in its songwriting roots and refreshingly innovative.
BAND MEMBERS
Cam Brown – Founder, songwriter, lyricist, and creative leader
Cam Brown, the band’s founder, songwriter, lyricist, and creative leader, shapes OGN’s music with the precision and passion of a devoted craftsman. His distinctive voice—described as powerful, jazzy, and articulate—pairs with his songwriting centered around the acoustic guitar. Influenced by legends like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jack Johnson, Stevie Wonder, and Amy Winehouse, Cam also grew up immersed in the alternative and pop radio hits of the 90s and 2000s, and in an era where all music became readily available. He soaked up a vast range of influences, blending them into a unique style that bridges timeless artistry with contemporary accessibility. Whether channeling funky rhythms or delivering distorted guitar solos, Cam brings depth and brilliance to the foundation of OGN’s music.
David Hamilton Jr. – Drummer & rhythmic architect
At the helm of rhythm is David Hamilton Jr., affectionately known as Smoov Alien, whose drumming style fuses gospel, Latin, jazz, hip-hop, and pop-rock influences into a seamless flow of rhythmic brilliance. Known for his smooth precision and radiant energy, David’s talent shines both on stage and in the studio. A master of percussive instruments, he collaborates closely with Cam to finalize song structures, tempos, and rhythms, helping to shape the band’s sound. Together, the duo produces music that feels both polished and alive, reflecting their vision and chemistry.
Extended Family-
OGN’s extended family includes MikelParis, keyboardist and background vocalist (also of O.A.R.), and JazzyZach, a saxophonist whose jazz and classical background adds intricate harmonies and melodies to the group’s recordings. This collective of talent rounds out OGN’s dynamic sound, both on record and in their high-energy live performances.
MUSIC & PERFORMANCES
The band’s hit single, “Don’t Wanna Give Up feat. Shwayze,” embodies their ethos with lyrics like “I’ll smile and I’ll breathe, I’ll do what I need,” resonating as a rallying mantra for resilience and positivity. With over 1 million streams on Spotify and several hundreds of listeners saving it to their libraries every month, the song is a beacon for their ever-growing fanbase.
OGN has honed their craft both in the studio and on the road. Over the past years, they’ve shared stages with acts like Michael Franti & Spearhead, Dirty Heads, Fitz and The Tantrums, and Blues Traveler. They’ve performed with Train four times on the Sail Across the Sun Cruise and also on Soulshine At Sea with Michael Franti & Spearhead, Allen Stone, and Arrested Development. The band performed at 2024 festivals including Oktoberfest in Jacksonville Beach with Gym Class Heroes, Point Break Festival in Virginia Beach with Sublime and Slightly Stoopid, and Florida Groves Festival in Orlando with Milky Chance.
COMMUNITY & IMPACT
Beyond their music, OGN is deeply committed to supporting their local community. They partnered with NourishUp to launch the “Good Food For Good Neighbors” Farm-To-Table Fundraiser, hosting a food drive at the Charlotte Regional Farmers Market, raising funds to purchase nutritious ingredients, provide meals, and promote food education for thousands in need across Charlotte, NC. Additionally, the band was featured in Sierra Nevada’s Doing Big Things campaign for their collaboration with RoofAbove Charity.
