Join us for our October monthly meeting This meeting we will be hosting our first workshop of the school year. Come meet Kendal Martes M.A. CCC-SLP as she presents a workshop about Dyslexia and DLD (Developemental Language Disorder).
Workshop Overview:
Understanding Dyslexia: Gain insights into Dyslexia and Developmental Language Disorder (DLD)—what it is, how it affects learning, and the common challenges students face.
Addressing the Needs of Dyslexic & DLD Students: Learn about specific strategies and approaches to support dyslexic & DLD students effectively
The Importance of Explicit Instruction: Explore why dyslexic students need clear, structured, and explicit instruction to thrive academically.
Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) and Educator Partnerships: Understand the pivotal role that collaboration between SLPs and other educators play in providing interventions for dyslexic students.
Using a Strengths-Based Approach: learn specific language, tips, and strategies to instill confidence in dyslexic learners.
We are all excited to meet you and support your family's educational journey.
Do you have a student receiving special services in school this year? EPLAC can support you in becoming an advocate for your child’s special education and connect you with local resources.
What is EPLAC?
The East Providence Local Advisory Committee For Special Education (EPLAC) is a committee comprised of parents of children with disabilities along with administrators, teachers and others with a concern for our children. We meet throughout the school year to share information and concerns of educational issues.
The committee’s goals are:
-To enable parents of special education children to be effective in their advocacy efforts
-To jointly advocate for all children with special needs
-To aid the East Providence School Department in its efforts to provide quality education for all students
-To provide each other with a strong network of support Come share your voice, and bring your experiences and questions!
The committee is always seeking new parents. Please Join us! We look forward to meeting you!
