Ethical fundraising requires us to honor donors’ rights, but it also requires healthy, respectful relationships among donors, fundraising professionals, and the organizations they serve.
In this interactive session, we will examine the Donor Bill of Rights alongside the professional boundaries and organizational practices that make fundraising both ethical and sustainable.
Participants will explore how to recognize when donor expectations or behavior cross a line, communicate clear boundaries without compromising important relationships, and respond when donor requests conflict with organizational values or professional ethics.
The conversation will also consider the organization’s responsibility to protect its fundraisers. What policies, reporting processes, and leadership practices help employees feel supported? How can organizations pursue ambitious fundraising goals without placing unreasonable emotional or relational burdens on their staff?
Through practical scenarios and facilitated discussion, participants will leave better prepared to build a culture that respects donors, protects fundraisers, and supports meaningful, mission-centered relationships.
As part of this annual gathering, the chapter will also host its Annual Meeting, including updates and the election of new Board members.
