October Free Tree Walk: Island Cemetery

Come along for a pleasant May stroll through Newport’s beautiful Island Cemetery. NTC Living Collections Manager Joe Verstandig will share some of his recent plant discoveries in the cemetery, highlighting some interesting plant features. Lilacs will be a point of discussion, from their history in American cultivation, to how to grow and prune them for the best flowering effect. Other flowering trees and shrubs, such as Kwanzan cherries and dogwoods should be peaking as well.

Registration is required and will open on April 19, 2024. This program involves walking/standing for the duration of the event. Please dress appropriately for the weather conditions.
