October Featured Poet: Rowe Carenen

Please join us for Sawmill's October reading hosted by our own Mari Ramler! We are so fortunate to have Rowe Carenen with us all the way from South Carolina, reading from her new chapbook, Body of Work, at Plenty on October 5.
This book! Poet Glenis Redmond calls Carenen's poetry "radical love poems forged in a time when the world is on fire." Mari Ramler calls Body of Work "the book you read when you just can’t take anymore, and there is still so much to take."
Rowe Carenen is a graduate of Salem College and the University of Southern Mississippi. Her poems have appeared in various literary journals and magazines, including the digital eighth issue of Womanly Mag, The Revenant Culture, GERM, Terrible Orange Review, Oyster River Pages, and the Running with Water anthology. Neverland Publishing published her first collection, In the Meantime, in 2014. Unsolicited Press published her best-selling second collection of poetry, First Drafts from the Brewery, in April of 2022. Her chapbook, Body of Work, March 2026, is from Finishing Line Press. She lives in Greenville, SC, with her husband, a menagerie of cats, and Neville Jameson, their rescue boxer/pittie mix.
Carenen's reading will be followed by an open mic. Poetry, spoken word, dramatic monologue, short prose, and songs are all welcome. Plenty is located at 41 W. Broad St. in Cookeville. Arrive by 6:45 to sign up to perform.
