Discover the birds of Hickory Creek Preserve-LaPorte Rd Access! (10501 W La Porte Rd, Mokena, IL 60448) This diverse preserve offers a rich mosaic of habitats—from mature woodlands and open prairies to wetlands and a scenic stretch of Hickory Creek—creating a haven for a wide variety of birdlife. Keep your eyes and ears open for Pileated Woodpeckers, Barred Owls, late-migrating warblers, sparrows, and many other species that call this unique landscape home. Join us for a morning of exploration as we discover what’s moving through the preserve during the end of fall migration season!
We will meet at the Shagbark Pavilion (the first parking lot on your left) at 9am. We will be hiking the natural trails and paved bikeway. Please dress appropriately for terrain and weather.
