Our October bar luncheon features two local leaders in higher education, Dr. Frank Sobey and Mr. Mark White.
Dr. Sobey joined Amarillo College as a full-time instructor in the English Department in 2005. He is now the Vice President of Academic Affairs, leading the largest division at the college. He has three degrees from Texas Tech University, including a doctoral degree in higher education administration.
Mr. White is General Counsel for Amarillo College, where he also is Executive Vice President. A native of Amarillo, he attended Amarillo College and then Texas Tech University for undergraduate work and law school.
Both gentlemen are married to lawyers. Together they will give you an insider’s view of “What’s Really Happening on College Campuses.” Hear about riots, encampments, free speech, drag shows, tenure, DEI confusion, antisemitism, and recent legislation affecting higher education across the country. Learn some interesting facts about the award-winning Amarillo College and how it is unlike traditional higher education.
