About this Event

EcoArt Mornings: Create with Nature & Intention

Join us for a hands-on, creative EcoArt experience designed for participants of all 4‑H membership ages. Over three inspiring summer mornings, we’ll explore art techniques that emphasize creativity, sustainability, and self-expression—while making the most of natural, found, and repurposed materials.

Dates & Time:
July 13, 15, and 17
9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

This small-group program (limited to 15 participants) offers a relaxed, supportive environment to experiment, learn new skills, and create meaningful art with purpose. Youth participants may be dropped off.

The camp will be led by Jamie Stoppelbein, Co-President of the Foothills Conservatory for the Performing Arts. Learn more at http://jamiestop.com/

Throughout the program, participants will explore a variety of eco-conscious artistic practices, including:

  • Upcycling and transforming everyday materials into functional art
  • Visible mending techniques that turn repair into creative expression
  • Cyanotype (sun) printing using natural elements
  • Building and developing personal nature journals or scrapbooks
  • Painting with natural or repurposed supplies
  • “Art abandonment” projects—creating pieces to share with and inspire the community

Our focus is on learning techniques and creating pieces that are both beautiful and useful—no fluff. Whether repairing, reimagining, or creating from scratch, participants will leave with skills they can continue using and projects that serve a purpose.

Rather than aiming for perfection, this program encourages curiosity, experimentation, and personal expression. Come ready to get creative, get a little messy, and see art—and everyday objects—in a whole new, sustainable way.

TO BRING:
Dress to get messy—we’ll likely spend time outdoors! Bring a water bottle and a snack.

A portion of materials are reclaimed or repurposed, and registration helps cover specialty supplies and guest artist instruction. Some scholarship funding is available.
