We will be presenting about Kelp Restoration in Monterey just two days after the Fish and Game Commission "Committee of the Whole" decides the fate of our petition 2023-23MPA in Half Moon Bay on Tuesday, April 21. Please plan on attending both events on Tuesday and Thursday. For the Tuesday Fish and Game Commission event, you can write a letter or Zoom in, but obviously we can't drink beers over the internet and Thursday will be an in-person non-recorded event.
G2KR founder Keith Rootsaert will present a summary of kelp restoration efforts by certified volunteer divers at Tanker's Reef that created 11 acres of giant kelp forest in a former urchin barren. Learn about the new regenerative urchin fishery to ranch and compost urchins to create food security.
What is the future of kelp restoration in California? Will this be a celebration, or us crying into our mid-strength beers? Be there to find out!! Admission is free, the beer and wine are outstanding, and there is a taco truck there that exceeds taco truck expectations.
