OCA-NY Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade: Pre-Party + March

Happy Year of the Horse! Let's Celebrate and March Together

WHEN: Sunday March 1, 2026

TIME: 10:30AM-3PM

WHERE: P.S. 130 Hernando De Soto School - 143 Baxter Street, Manhattan, NY 10013 (Upon entering the school, make a left and follow the signs to the cafeteria)

Schedule of Events

10:30am - Pre Parade Party

• What: Pre Parade Party collaboratively hosted by OCA-NY and FCC-OA with support by OCA-NJ, OCA-WHV, OCA-LI and the Chinese Progressive Association. Join us for dumplings, sweet snacks, fruit, refreshments AND a Lion Dance performance! Please note, red envelopes will be available at this event (or bring your own!).
• Where: PS130, Hernando DeSoto School Lunchroom - 143 Baxter Street (btw Grand and Hester), NYC [Make a LEFT when you enter the school].

12:30pm - Line Up For Marching

• What: We'll walk around the corner to line up and MARCH in the parade (Parade runs 1-3PM but we are usually done by 2:30 or before so you can watch the rest!)
• Where: The March will head down Mott and Canal Streets to Chatham Square to East Broadway toward the Manhattan Bridge, completing on Eldridge and Forsyth Streets towards Grand Street next to Sara D. Roosevelt Park
• NOTE: You will be able to leave bags and other items at PS130 while we march (someone will be there to watch the space), OCA, CAA and PS130 will not be responsible for lost or stolen items.

As many of you know, this parade draws thousands of people each year and features many community groups, advocacy organizations, dance troupes, marching bands, seniors playing traditional instruments, drummers, and lion dancers. This is one of the few times that we get to participate with the greater Chinese-American community and what a special feeling it is both for us and for them to celebrate this wonderful event together!

So bundle up and please join us in celebrating this Year of the Horse!
