The community is invited to attend and participate in a Town Council and Planning Commission Joint Study Session from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. on March 17, 2026, in Town Council Chambers located at 110 E. Main Street. The Town has recently initiated an update to the Los Gatos Objective Design Standards for multi-family and mixed-use design throughout the Town and hired Lisa Wise Consulting, Inc. to lead the community engagement.At the Study Session, the consulting team will introduce the Objective Design Standards Update project; provide an overview of community outreach and feedback; and present several topics for consideration by the Council, Commission, and community. The feedback and direction from the Study Session will be essential in shaping the Administrative Draft Objective Design Standards to follow. The Study Session agenda and packet will be available on the Town website at www.LosGatosCA.gov/AgendasAndVideos. The community may participate in person or remotely.
About the project: The Los Gatos Objective Design Standards Update Project will lead to recommendations for additions and modifications to the 2023 Objective Design Standards for Qualifying Multi-family and Mixed-use Residential Development. This work is part of the larger effort to implement the Town’s adopted 6th Cycle Housing Element. Specifically, this effort will update the current Objective Design Standards to:
• Reflect the height and scale of development that the Town anticipates;
• Require smooth transitions between development of different height and scale;
• Ensure that new development is high-quality in terms of materials and detail;
• Regulate architectural style in a way that is specific and consistent with existing patterns;
• Acknowledge the input and priorities of the community; and
• Ensure that the Objective Design Standards are transparent and easy to interpret.
