Moderate only for its 11 mi distance (690 gain/loss!); otherwise, the easiest long hike around. And you can shorten it to suit yourself. Starting at Heritage Hill in Lake Forest, we meander through Serrano Creek Park, then head gently uphill toward Foothill Ranch on a suburban trail along the creek. Continuing into Whiting Ranch, we will enjoy the lush greenery of Live Oak and Serrano Creek Trails before heading for home. Lunch stop (picnic or eatery) in Foothill Ranch, then return via an abbreviated version of the way we came up. Meet 8:30 am at the Heritage Hill parking lot on Serrano Rd. Directions: From the I-5, take Lake Forest Dr east, turn L on Serrano, R into parking lot, park immediately. (Lot also serves a shopping center.) Bring water, snack, lunch or lunch money if you do the whole thing, sun protection, walking shoes are fine. Steady rain cancels.
