NZ Data Science + Analytics Forum: Data Literacy and Storytelling

The NZ Data Science + Analytics Forum is excited to invite you to an in-person event in Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland on Thursday 2 July 2026. How do you move from data to real impact? Join us to explore how organisations are building data capability and communicating insights in ways that drive better decisions.
When & where:
- Date: Thu 2 July 2026
- Mode: In person (Tāmaki Makaurau / Auckland).
- Time: In-person sign-in and whanaungatanga / networking from 3:00 pm; welcome and talks 3:15 to 5:00 pm; light nibbles/drinks and networking from 5:00 pm; wrap up around 6:00 pm.
- Host/Venue: AUT room WG701. This is located on level 7 of the Sir Paul Reeves Building (WG), 55 Wellesley Street in the Auckland CBD. There is also an entrance off Mayoral Drive. For more information refer to the AUT City Campus Map.
- Refreshments: Light finger food and non-alcoholic drinks provided after the presentations.

- Susan Needham (Auckland Council): "Data Literacy". Helping people build confidence and capability to work with data. Susan will share Auckland Council's approach to Data Literacy and how it is helping people use data more effectively in their roles.
- Kat Greenbrook (Rogue Penguin): "Data Storytelling". Turning compliance reports into data stories that your audience can understand. Kat will share her process for finding the data stories hiding inside annual reports, leaving you with a repeatable approach you can apply to your own work.
- MMARC and AIRC research centres (AUT): "Postgraduate research showcase": Celebrating contributions to knowledge, practice, and industry engagement. Exploring emerging ideas, ongoing investigations, and recent milestones.

Thanks to our sponsors, NZ Data Science + Analytics Forum events are free to attend (with an Eventbrite ticket) and open to anyone with an interest in data science and analytics.
Capacity is limited to around 100 people, so we recommend registering early. Please only register if you’re able to attend, as we always have a wait list. If your plans change, please cancel your registration so someone else can take your spot.
