Join your friends at NYCHAPS for our January First Friday evening of fun happening on Friday, January 3rd at Dills Tavern beginning at 7pm. At First Fridays, you can expect loads of fun with live music, snacks, BYOB (legally procured in PA), and more!
This month we're thrilled to have the Susquehanna Travellers performing traditional folk music of the American Civil War, Old Time, Irish and Regency as well as original tunes. The band has been performing throughout the Mid-Atlantic States for more than two decades and has earned a reputation for excellent musicianship and a unique acoustic sound. Don't let the cold keep you from enjoying this evening.
January's First Friday will also feature our Wassail festival - the traditional blessing of the orchards on the Dills Tavern site! What is wassailing? It is enjoying oneself with others in a noisy, lively way. Participants are encouraged to dress in brightly colored attire with hats adorned in a festive winter or orchard theme. Keep in mind: it will be cold, but the walk is short and we will have fires along the way. We will make noise, shoot off a cannon to scare away any evil spirits, followed by the joyful noise of singing Here We Come a Wassailing and placing toast in the tree for a good harvest. So grab your friends, dress in garb, and celebrate the New Year by wassailing in the moonlight.
This event is exclusive to the 21+ crowd and advanced ticket sales are not available. Simply pay at the door when you arrive – $10 for members and $15 for nonmembers.
Enjoy a new Tasting Program with Tavernkeeper Murray Small in the Eichelberger Distillery for an additional $10. You'll be able to participate in the "Wassail" tasting AND receive a free McKenzie whiskey glass (an $8 value) with the Eichelberger Distillery logo.
