South East London based Americana singer-songwriter Dave Sutherland has teamed up with North London grassroots venue The Dukes of Highgate for NXSE, a Sunday afternoon twice monthly residency.
Dave will bring his unique fingerstyle guitar, melodic vocal and music that speaks of life, love and London to the stage. He’ll be joined by a special guest, showcasing the very best of Americana/Country roots music. The afternoon will run from 3pm and be free admission with an optional tip jug for the artists.
The first guest to join Dave is the magnificent AGS CONNOLLY. Ags is widely considered to be one of the best country music singer-songwriters ever to emerge from the UK, with Country Music People magazine labelling him "an English Willie Nelson" and "a national treasure"

Ags Connolly is a traditional country artist from England, widely considered to be one of the best singer-songwriters in the genre ever to emerge from the UK. He has released five highly acclaimed studio albums which have led Country Music People magazine to label him "an English Willie Nelson" and "a national treasure". His album 'Wrong Again' was named Album Of The Year at the 2020 UK Country Music Awards, while 'Your Pal Slim: Songs of James Hand' was considered in the Best Traditional Country Album category at the 2026 Grammy Awards. Ags has been a touring artist for over a decade, including playing major festivals and two US tours, and now performs regularly in the UK and across Europe. In 2023 he opened every date of a major European tour for Charley Crockett.
In addition to the music, Ags published his first novel in 2024, a crime thriller entitled ‘Outside The Light’. He has also presented a number of radio programmes on country music for various outlets.
In an era when the pop and rock incarnations of country music are enjoying a surge in popularity, Ags is known as a staunch defender of the genre’s traditional roots. Building on that foundation, a rapidly growing fanbase has seen his songwriting become recognised as outstanding in any category.

Dave Sutherland is a London based Americana singer-songwriter with nudges towards the Country Folk genres. So much so, he was awarded UK Male Country Singer of the Year at the UK Country Music Awards 2024. An accomplished performer filled with raw energy and emotion, Dave’s music speaks of life, love and London with the eye of an artist and the ear of a poet. His fingerstyle guitar, melodic vocal and engaging stage presence have cemented his place amongst the aristocracy of UK Americana artists.
His new album Just Like a Black and White Film is due for release in Oct 26 and consists of 11 original songs, all written and performed by Dave. He was joined in the studio by Owain Hughes (Piano and Organs) Holly Carter (Pedal Steel and Guitars) Tim Harries (Bass), Jim Kimberley (Drums) and Emma Thornett (vocals) It's produced by Martin Levan at Red Kite Studio.
His last album ‘Last Drop of Empty’ was released to worldwide critical acclaim and produced two Top 3 singles. It was also voted ‘Runner Up UK Americana Album 2022’ by the readers of Americana UK, reached the Top 25 of most played UK Roots albums across America, charted in the Euroamericana charts, was listed as ‘One To Watch’ on the Alt. Country Charts in America and nominated for ‘UK Country Album of the Year’ at the UK Country Music Awards 2022, where Dave was first awarded ‘UK Male Country Singer of the Year’. Dave’s been treading the musical boards for 30 years, releasing his first record, ‘Navigator’, under the direction and guidance of Bert Jansch.
