About Jess
Jess is the founder of Nurtured First and a registered psychotherapist who has been helping children (and parents) in her private practice for years. Jess's unique approach to parenting looks at emotional connection, brain development, and responsive discipline as the foundation for raising emotionally intelligent kids. Her approach is unique, and responsive, and works well for parents who feel they've tried it all. Beyond this, Jess is a mom of 3 - so she gets it. Her passion for gentle parenting started after her own parenting journey with her oldest daughter. She knows what it feels like to be overwhelmed and exhausted. Since then, she's helped tens of thousands of families to parent with more confidence and connection.

Friday Mums at The Bridge
A free weekly space for new mums
Motherhood can feel lonely, but you don’t have to go through it alone.
Friday Mums is a free weekly group for new mums (and pregnant women) to connect, feel supported, and spend time with others who understand this stage of life.
It’s a relaxed, welcoming space where you can drop in for a coffee, a chat, or an activity — and take time for yourself as well as your baby.
Unlike many baby groups, Friday Mums is designed to support mums as people, not just parents.
What to expect
Each Friday combines informal social space with optional activities, including:
- A free tea or coffee in a café space just for mums
- A comfortable, baby-friendly space with soft play
- Time to chat and connect with other mums
- Perinatal mental health peer support
- Health and wellbeing talks
- Gentle movement-based activities
You’re welcome to drop in at any time and stay for as long or as little as suits you.
Who is it for?
- New mums with babies up to 12 months old
- Pregnant women (some sessions also open to expectant mums)
Many attendees are first-time mums, new to the area, or looking for a low-pressure way to meet other mums.
How to attend

Some classes, talks or workshops may require booking via Eventbrite. https://www.thebridge-uk.org/mumsproject
