This course prepares you for entry-level work in the field of nursing. You will gain the knowledge and skills to safely care for patients in all health care settings. The class provides special focus on safety, the rights of all residents/patients/clients, and the ability to function within a CNA's Scope of Practice. This tri-level course includes: 1) theory, 2) skills lab, and 3) clinical rotation in a Long-term Care Facility. After successful completion, you are eligible to take the State of Texas nurse aide certification exam.Course Information:
This program is comprised of 60 hours of classroom and skills lab and 40 hours of clinicals (externship) at a long-term care facility.
Occupation Overview:
Nurse aides work closely with patients and residents, assisting with bathing, grooming, and feeding. Nurse aides are responsible for basic care services such as checking patient vital signs, ambulation and activities of daily living (ADLs).
Jobs include: nursing homes, hospitals, clinics, rehab centers, long-term care, doctor’s offices, home health agencies, and independent living facilities.
This course is held Mon-Thurs from 5:15pm-9:30pm
