NUKeLEUS is a jazz trio based in Athens, Greece, known for blending rock, jazz, Latin, and folk influences to create a unique and engaging sound. The band comprises pianist Sami Amiris, drummer Yannis Stavropoulos, and double bassist Periklis Trivolis, who have been performing together for over eighteen years. Their collaboration has resulted in a distinctive musical style that is both accessible and challenging. Dimitris Papadopoulos is a prominent Greek jazz trumpeter, composer, and educator, born in Athens in 1982. He graduated from the Athens Conservatory with a soloist diploma in trumpet and has been teaching jazz trumpet there since 2013. He also teaches at the Modern Music School of Giorgos Fakanas.
He has collaborated with leading figures of the Greek and international jazz scenes, including Dimitris Kalantzis, Dimitris Vassilakis, George Fakanas, Takis Paterelis, Vasilis Xenopoulos, and Tony Lakatos. He has participated in numerous recordings and performances with ensembles such as the Love Affair Big Band, Latin All Stars del Palenque, Bellevue Cadillac, and the Athens Jazz Legacy Quintet.
As a member of the Athens Big Band, he has performed in major events, including a Brazilian music tribute with Katerina Polemi in 2023. His own project, the Dimitris Papadopoulos Quartet, presents original compositions that blend post-bop with modern jazz and has been featured in many festivals and venues.
He has also contributed to tributes to jazz legends, including "A Tribute to Blue Note" with Takis Paterelis and "A Tribute to Kenny Dorham and Lee Morgan" with Konstantinos Stouraitis.
His influence on the Greek jazz scene is significant, both as a performer and as an educator.
