Join us for a reading of Nueva Yol, a coming-of- age comedy set in the Bronx in 1988. After being sent from Puerto Rico to live with relatives in New York, 13 year old Yoli begins her first day at a massive Bronx high school while struggling to adapt to a completely different world. Raised with old-school beliefs and strict expectations, Yoli finds herself caught between Puerto Rican traditions and the fast paced culture of NuevaYol.

On the same day she gets her first period, Yoli navigates culture shock, embarrassing misunderstandings, new friendships, her first crush on a boy and unexpected feelings for a girl.
