NRA DEFENSIVE PISTOL CLASS

This course is conducted as a NRA Defensive Pistol Class. This course will focus on the techniques needed to develop a defensive mindset. The goal of the course will be to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary to carry and use a concealed pistol ethically, responsibly, and with confidence. As a result of participating in this course, the student will be able to explain and demonstrate the following: How to apply the NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm, basic principles of concealment, the difference between cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, levels of mental awareness, developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection, clearing common stoppages, use of pocket pistols, and more. Students will receive the NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside The Home handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and the NRA Defensive Pistol certificate. This course is only conducted by NRA Certified Advanced Pistol Instructors.

The required prerequisite for students to attend this course is:
Possess a valid Permit to Carry Concealed from:
■ South Dakota Enhanced Permit
■ Minnesota
■ Nebraska
■ North Dakota Enhanced Permit
■ Utah (Resident or Non-Resident)
■ SD Enhanced Permit to Carry Concealed Class Certificate of Completion from Schlueter Firearms Instruction.

This class is the prerequisite class to attend our other defensive firearms classes:
■ Defensive Rifle/Pistol
■ Defensive Shotgun/Pistol

While attending this course students will learn about:
■ Firearms & Use of Force
■ NRA Rules for Safe Gun Handling when carrying a concealed firearm.
■ Basic principles of concealment.
■ The difference between cover and concealment.
■ Drawing from the holster & Re-holstering.
■ Levels of mental awareness
■ Developing the proper mindset when using a pistol for personal protection.
■ Immediate action drills to clear common stoppages.
■ Reloading under stress.
■ Move off the line of attack and shoot.
■ Live fire training –using a flash sight picture

NRA Defensive Pistol certificate of Completion is awarded to students who successfully complete this class.

Successful NRA DEFENSIVE PISTOL students:
■ Have the option to complete:
》》》A pre-course evaluation to attend NRA Personal Protection outside the Home.
■ This evaluation meets the prerequisite training requirements to attend our:
》》》NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME CLASS.
NRA PPOTH Class - consists of:
*********NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL I - PART I (4/5 hours)
*********NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL I - PART II (4/5 hours)
*********NRA PERSONAL PROTECTION OUTSIDE THE HOME LEVEL II - PART III (5/6 hours)
■ Students pursuing their NRA Personal Protection outside the Home Certificate(s), need to complete:
*********NRA PPOTH LEVEL I - PART I & PART II
with in one 12 month period to receive completion certificate for this class.

with in one 12 month period to receive completion certificate for this class.
