Dynamic new and exploratory music from a brilliant quartet of musicians at the forefront of the UK improvised music scene, with post-rock influences including Mogwai, Tortoise, and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, plus a myriad of urgent electronic textures. Featuring Dee Byrne (alto sax, fx), Chris Sharkey (guitar, fx), Michael Bardon (bass guitar, fx) and Johnny Hunter (drums, fx)

Drummer Johnny Hunter is no stranger to The Lescar, an acclaimed and energising creative force with a growing reputation, he has brought us some unforgettable nights including most recently with Ingrid Laubrok in a trio with bassist John Pope, and also an extended quartet playing music entitled ‘Pale Blue Dot’ which was subsequently released as a live recording of a beautiful and extraordinary night, and with UK-Swiss collaboration MoonMot, who’s most recent album was released on the Enja label.
Dee Byrne has been involved in so many of our best nights at The Lescar over many years, from the Lume and Favourite Animals gigs with Cath Roberts to her own band Entropi and the electronic experimentation of Motherboard Pinball. She’s also a member of brilliant UK/Swiss sextet MoonMot.
Chris Sharkey has for 20 years produced forward thinking and endlessly exciting music at the boundaries of improvised music and electronic sound, performing with the likes of Jack Wylie (Portico), Roller Trio, Anton Eger’s Æ, Joshua Blackmore’s SiZE, Acoustic Ladyland, trioVD, Shiver, and as a solo artist.
A fixture on the exciting and creative Leeds improvised music scene, bassist Michael Bardon has previously visited The Lescar with Shatner’s Bassoon, Tipping Point, and James Mainwaring, and has toured with multiple bands to venues and festivals across the UK and Europe. In 2021 he released a widely acclaimed and extraordinary album of solo bass and cello music.
