November Translated Fiction Book Club, at Heffers Bookshop

For this month of the translated fiction bookclub, we'll be taking on a French classic.

Andre Gide's The Immoralist, here translated by Dr David Watson, is a modern fable of desire, pleasure, and moral paradox. On the road to recovery from tuberculosis, a once reserved scholar discovers a new zest for life, seeking pleasure to the point where freedom itself becomes a burden. Vivid and psychological, this novella is sure to pack a punch in our discussion.
