November Monthly Meeting with MO Wild Plant ID Creator, Daniel Tracy
MO Wild Plant ID is a free flashcard app for identifying 800+ Missouri wild plants, built for people who want to actually learn them instead of pointing a camera and forgetting by tomorrow. Daniel will demo it live, show how the field filters narrow a plant down to what you can see in front of you, and talk about why plant literacy matters. Bring a phone or tablet if you want to follow along.
Daniel Tracy is a fifth-generation Crawford County resident, a horticulturist, and a forager who got tired of not having a good way to learn the plants growing around him. So, he built one. MO Wild Plant ID is a free app covering more than 800 Missouri species, and he uses it every day. He’s not a developer. He’s someone who knew exactly what he wanted and made it exist. His work on the app was recently written up in Growing for Market magazine.
The Ozark Rivers Audubon Society has monthly meetings which include a speaker on a wide variety of topics. The meetings are held on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm at the First United Methodist Church at 803 N Main St, Rolla in Room 200. You do not need to be a member to attend. Join us!
