Nottingham Partners: City As Lab Workshops

Nottingham Partners is excited to host a series of workshops with City As Lab at the University of Nottingham. Join us for one of four workshops across March.

City as Lab is a University of Nottingham-led initiative focusing on place-based research using digital and data innovation. It connects researchers, communities and partners in collaborative projects that tackle real-world challenges across the Nottingham city region. Since 2022, City as Lab has supported numerous collaborative research projects where universities, citizens, public bodies, community organisations and businesses have come together.

Notably, City as Lab hosts award-winning tools for harnessing and visualising place-based data. These include the Projection Augmented Relief Model (PARM), Nottingham 3D photographic mesh and City Data Connector. The PARM and mesh underpin a significant collaboration with Nottingham City Council that recently won a national government innovation award for the project ‘A 3D Digital Twin for Nottingham: Transforming an Ambitious Vision into Virtual Reality.’ The Nottingham PARM also won the 2024 British Cartographic Society award for ‘map of the year’.

From September 2024, City as Lab is hosting and co-facilitating the Nottingham Urban Room in collaboration with Nottingham City Council.
