Notes from the Field: Towards Liberation and Freedom.
About this Event
This unique conference explores the questions: What are ways in which depth-oriented therapists think about, embody, invite, and fight for freedom- within ourselves, relationally, and as a collective? What processes liberate us from constraint and oppression- internal and external; in our theories and training; inside and beyond the consultation room?
Unlike the typical academic or psychology conference, Notes from the Field presenters were invited to bring unfinished ideas so the audience and presenters can wrestle together with the complexities inherent to the demand of thinking about liberation and freedom. Through this shared dialogue, the conference serves to support our collective exploration and embodied experience of liberation and freedom.
Morning Keynote: Dr. Joe Zamaria examines the potential of group psychedelic-assisted therapy to reimagine therapy outside of the traditional dyadic western perspective, and to support healing trauma, including racial trauma, as a group.
Panels: there will be several panels and offerings led by different presenters, all of whom are CIIS PsyD Faculty, students, and alumni. These presentations, which span from clinical to theoretical, from transpersonal, psychoanalytic, and liberatory perspectives, expand our notions of what liberation and freedom from a depth-oriented perspective means. We encourage you to look through the breath of offerings and join us in what we expect to be meaningful and truly inspiring dialogues.
As our conferences are designed to create community, we offer treats throughout the day and lunch, providing space for relationship-building between attendees.
Proceeds for this conference help us create future conferences and to support our PsyD scholarship fund.
