What is Pink Friday?
Pink Friday is a special nation-wide shopping event focused on small businesses. On Friday, November 20, and extending through Saturday, November 21—shoppers will have two full days to explore Northport’s small businesses and support their local community. Shoppers are invited to “Shop Small First” with exclusive deals, local charm, and a chance to win BIG. Passport Cards will help shoppers find participating businesses. Details are below! Together, we’ll make Pink Friday an event Northport residents look forward to every year!
How the Passport Card Works:
Pick Up – Shoppers collect a Pink Friday Passport Card from any participating business.
Complete – Shoppers visit five or more participating stores to “complete” their passport.
Submit – Once complete, shoppers drop their card at their last stop before the end of Saturday.
Win – All completed passport cards are entered for a chance to win one of two $500 cash prizes in a live drawing.
The drawing will take place on Sunday, November 22, at 6 PM via Facebook Live in the Pink Friday Northport Group. Drawing will take place at Gypsy River Apparel and everyone is invited to attend!
*NOTE – we cannot require that participants make a purchase to have their passports marked, due to the laws of the state of Alabama.
How We’re Marketing Pink Friday – Together! :
Pink Friday is a community-wide marketing effort designed to bring shoppers to Northport and encourage them to visit multiple participating businesses. Organizers will coordinate the overall campaign, while participating businesses will help expand its reach by promoting Pink Friday to their own customers, followers, and community.
What Organizers Will Provide:
Organizers will lead the community-wide promotion, including:
A dedicated Pink Friday Northport Facebook Group where businesses can showcase what they offer, share specials, and connect with shoppers. The live cash-prize drawing will also take place in the group.
Social media content, promotional videos, and paid Facebook advertising highlighting Pink Friday, participating businesses, the Passport Card, and cash prizes.
Promotional materials such as banners, yard signs, and other signage.
Local media and community outreach to help expand awareness of the event.
The Role of Participating Businesses:
Pink Friday works best when everyone helps spread the word. Participating businesses will be expected to actively promote the event leading up to Pink Friday by sharing official content, creating their own posts and videos, posting in the Facebook group, displaying promotional materials, and talking with customers about the event.
Businesses are also encouraged to cross-promote other participants and use their own marketing channels and community connections to help extend our reach. Every business has a different audience, and when we share one another's content, we introduce Pink Friday—and Northport businesses—to even more potential shoppers.
Better Together
Pink Friday isn't an event where businesses simply sign up and wait for shoppers to arrive. Its success comes from all of us working together to create excitement and bring people into Northport to shop small.
Organizers provide the framework and community-wide campaign, while participating businesses help amplify the message. When one business promotes Pink Friday, it helps promote all of us.
