A gentle walk to one of the old hamlets that once was here to see what remains with a few surprises on the way.Book on Eventbrite at https://shorturl.at/RhZtk
A relaxed, welcoming walk to explore Northolt West End, meet others, and reflect on what makes a place feel clean and pleasant to live in.
We meet at the library and then walk along the streets until we get to Lime Tree Park. This was once a farm (as were many parks before) and we will continue to an actual farm across the busy Ruislip Road. We then will walk along the Old Ruislip Road to what was the heart of the old hamlet of West End. From there we walk to Oak Tree Court for an optional stop at a cafe at the end of the walk. Yeading Lane and the Ruislip Road are close by from where you can catch local buses.
A walk with a purpose
This walk is part of the Your Voice Your Town project, funded by Ealing Council, supporting a shared goal where Northolt residents selected clean and pleasant as their top priority for change.
As we walk, we’ll gently reflect on questions such as:
what do we understand by 'clean and pleasant'?
what features of the area we are walking in would support this?
where might things be improved?
There's no pressure to speak - you’re welcome to simply listen, observe and enjoy the walk.
What makes these walks different
Since 2016, Talking and Exploring has been bringing people together through walks that focus on both place and people.
For this project, we also:
welcome local residents, newcomers, and visitors alike
reach out to those who may feel less confident, isolated or new to the area
connect with local businesses, community and faith groups where possible
create space for conversation, shared experience and new connections
After the walk
We’ll finish with an optional café stop — a chance to rest, chat and continue the conversation in a relaxed setting.
You’ll also be invited to share your thoughts afterwards. Your feedback helps build a better understanding of how people experience Ealing and contributes to wider community insight.
