About this Event

In addition to its regular weekday hours (10-4 Wed-Fri), Founder’s Hall Museum hosts a monthly weekend open house. Visitors can enjoy special themed highlights and activities, along with the opportunity for a self-guided visit to the museum.

What were the Brewerytown, Fairmount and Sharswood neighborhoods like more than hundred years ago? Stop by this month's open house to see local history items not normally on display, from 18th century maps of Philadelphia to 20th century aerial photos of the neighborhoods around Girard College--can you find your own house?

We will also be highlighting the history of the desegregation of Girard College. Learn about the three generations of Black Philadelphia activists who fought for this change, from Nathan Mossel to Cecil B. Moore, and the neighborhood community members who were the backbone of the movement.

Before you go
  • This open house event is FREE, and open to everyone. Advance registration is helpful for us, but walk-in visitors are very welcome.
  • Founder's Hall is a National Historic Landmark. The museum is located on the second floor and requires climbing a flight of stairs to view.
  • Because Girard College is an active school, you will quickly check in with security when arriving on campus. Please bring a government ID.
  • Parking is available for free on-site; we are also accessible by several bus lines and are a half-mile walk from the Girard Avenue subway stop.
  • Check out www.foundershall.org for more information about our programs, collections, and online resources
