North Island IGNITE Athlete Program 2023-2024

PSVI are a non-profit organization part of a provincial network supporting individuals along the Olympic and Paralympic pathway from provincial level to Team Canada. IGNITE is one of our flagship programs focusing on youth strength training, gymnastics and speed to supplement athleticism and sport performance. IGNITE athletes will receive:

- Weekly Training - three sessions per week Sept to June (two strength and either sprint or gymnastics)

- Three credits (must attend the whole year)

- IGNITE T-shirt

-Pre and post performance testing

-Educational Seminars

-Access to the local PacificSport Partner benefits such as the Willowpoint Sportsplex, Sport Experts, FYI Doctors, Epic Physiotherapy and Active Living Physiotherapy

Schedule breakdown:

Mondays- 7-8:30 AM-Strength & Conditioning -Carihi (Sept 18 to June)

Tuesdays-7:45-9:15 AM- Gymnastics (Nov 14 – March)-Springs Gymnastics

Wednesdays- 3-4 PM- Sprint Training- (Sept – Nov & April – May)-Carihi

Thursdays- 7-8:30 AM-Strength & Conditioning -Carihi (Sept 18 to June)

Fridays- OFF

Christmas holidays Dec 23 to Jan 7

Spring break March 16 to April 2

*Sprint Training will run September 20 – November 8 and then will be replaced by Gymnastics starting the November 13th week

IGNITE is designed for motivated individuals who are dedicated to improvement in their sport or chose discipline. The program is led by Todd Barnes, assisted by other staff from the Phys Ed department in addition to guest speakers.
