This one-hour taster session is designed as a lightning overview of business basics for those just starting out on their business journey.
About this Event

Do you need a quick overview of the basics of setting up a company? Join James for an informative 1 hour session at North City Library that will give you practical information, tips and guidance.

Here's what the session will cover:

  • Understanding business basics such as creating a business bank account
  • Learn how to register with Companies House as a Sole Trader or Limited Company
  • Gain a better understanding of ‘Knowing Your Customer’ and the processes involved
  • Gain a better understanding of your product, such as your customer needs and market demands

Please note: To join this session you or your business needs to reside within one of the following GM local authorities: Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Manchester, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside or Trafford, Wigan.

You also need to be: The owner of a business OR an aspiring entrepreneur with a business idea you want to develop.

We are able to provide our services and workshops for free because of the funding we receive from the UK government. In order to continue to provide these services free of charge, we need to provide our funders with information about the people we have helped through our services and workshops.

To ensure we have the correct information, please bring one of the following forms of identification with you to the workshop:

  • Your National Insurance (NI) number – if you have not yet registered a business
  • Your Companies House registration number or Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) – if you have registered a company with Companies House or are self-employed/sole trader registered with HMRC

Kindly note that we may not be able to admit you to the workshop without this information, so we strongly encourage you to have it ready on the day.

The Generator is a project with two vibrant enterprise hubs, located in St Peter’s Square, on the ground floor of the Town Hall Extension, and in Royal Mills in Ancoats. Our services include workspaces, events and workshops, 1-to-1 business information support, plus access to expert intellectual property and legal advice, and an introduction to our industry-standard business databases.
