About this Event

We're Weedpatch! We blew in on a dust storm, Weedpatch! And we're here to stay. We may be broke, but we're not broken, No sir, no way!

North Cambridge Family Opera presents an uplifting story from a slice of US history, with music informed by American folk songs and a variety of mid-twentieth musical styles:

WEEDPATCH by Grammy-winning storyteller Bill Harley and Stanford University music professor Paul Phillips. Commissioned by NCFO and first performed in 2018.

Hardship, laughter, and song in Dustbowl-era California! This heartwarming, fully-sung, 2-hour opera in two acts (including intermission) is set at the historical Weedpatch School, built and run by plucky and determined Oklahoma migrants who show resilience and humor in the face of hardship, hostility and prejudice from earlier settlers of California.

Performed by more than 100 children and adults from Cambridge and surrounding communities, at eight performances:

Saturday, March 21 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm Sunday, March 22 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm Saturday, March 28 at 3:00pm and 7:00pm Sunday, March 29 at 1:00pm and 5:00pm

Purchase your general admission tickets in advance online ($7 for children, $15 for adults), or just come and donate as much as you like at the door.
