About this Event
A place for writers to gather and develop our craft in a cozy setting inside the bookstore afterhours. Work shared may be selected for publication in our own writing club zine.
Who it’s for:
Anyone with a passion for writing: Curious people who enjoy discussing the writing process and the world. For people who want a gentle opportunity to read their work with others without the pressure of a formal feedback process. Expect lively and deep discussions. Comfort with written and spoken English is recommended, though all are welcome!
First Session - Beginnings:
Choose any short piece or excerpt you’ve previously written and are comfortable sharing. Perhaps your first journal entry in a different language? This will be a casual, social session with no pressure. Sharing will be optional. The main goal is to hang out, get to know each other, and introduce the program.
Join our Whatsapp group chat (link shared in order confirmation email) to connect and discuss leading up to our meetings!
Who is leading the sessions?
Dearest Writers,
My name is Letitia (she/her) and I’ve been helping people find their next favourite read at Nooroongji since 2022!
As a student of creative writing at Langara, my writing explores the intersectionality of identity and diasporic memory.
I find that my work grows more powerful when I connect with other storytellers. My aim for this club is to cultivate a welcoming and encouraging community for writers of all backgrounds to make friends and share their work.
A bit about Nooroongji Books:
Nooroongji Books opened in summer 2022 with the mission to make multilingual mainstream. An inviting space filled with plants and natural light welcomes you to discover uncommon literary and non-fiction titles on language, art, philosophy, and home. A rich children's collection features award-winning titles from around the world, carefully selected for their beauty and emotional impact. With a unique, global approach to curation, experience design, and authentic service, Nooroongji booksellers are empowered to be catalysts: reigniting our connection to the enduring power of books, language, and words to create meaningful change in ourselves and in the world.
